I’m writing to you from Cannes, France! How exciting I get to go share my projects with colleagues from all over the world. Last night we ate at LAPizza on the Croisette. Of course, I came all the way here to eat pizza! Literally some of the most mouth watering pizza I have ever eaten and I am so grateful for LaPizza. And now more coffee, as the time change is a bit brutal.

Why am I here?
  • To sell movies to distribution

  • To connect with sales agents

  • To connect with other producers and film workers

  • To have production meetings

  • To attend some of the conference presentations

  • To walk the red carpet a see a movie

Likely in that order if there is time for it all. I have sent out about 2500 outreach emails, built 11 pitch decks or updated them and or joined 2 other productions to add complete the 11 for my slate. Have countless reviews of my pitches with mentors, producers, local government leaders and many friends in support of my journey. I have accessed the global village, that I reside in. I am thrilled to connect with a few friends from other countries I will only see here in this lifetime.

The above video is a montage of projects I have created over the past few years. I love these characters, stories and productions! So many great results from the hard work of all the colleagues that I work with and on so many levels.

I plan to produce my slate of projects likely in Washington with the gracious help of King county and the new sound stage Harbor Island Studio. I have already worked there a few times and recently produced a Live streamed TV show with a live studio audience. I have designed a methodology to produce 8 movies in 2 years and employ hundreds of film workers in state, but also dong diligence with a finance plan that will result in profit for each project. This plan will become possible though the work I am putting in with the great milestone achievements like my time here at Cannes.

I’ll send an update post market and if you are here, lets get coffee!

All my best,

Derek
